Point7West unveils new fundraising video for Lynchburg College, VA

PALM DESERT, Calif. (September 7, 2011) — Point7West, a full-service video production company that creates award-winning corporate videos and commercials for clients across the country, has completed a new fundraising video for Lynchburg College in Virginia.
With enrollment growing, Lynchburg approached Point7West earlier this year to help them raise money to construct a new state-of-the-art Student Center. The Student Center would be a much-needed social hub for the school and house the new bookstore, fitness center, meeting rooms, and dining options.
The project was a perfect fit for the Point7West creative team, since they have produced successful videos for a variety of education clients, including colleges and private high schools. In addition, Point7West’s founder and CEO Steven Richardson is a Lynchburg alum.
To make the plans a reality, the College has to raise over 12 million dollars. They wanted to find a way to tell the story of the Student Center to potential donors and alumni, and highlight the positive impact it would have on students. A video solution was the answer. Because the Center was still in the initial planning stages, the challenge was to creating an exciting visual representation of a building that had yet to break ground.
The team solved this using dynamic motion graphics and animations to help viewers see the new Student Center take shape on campus. On-camera interviews with the head of the school and some real Lynchburg students highlight the importance of the project to the people who will be using the Center every day.
The results so far have been positive. Just one week after presenting the video to alumni and its donor base, the college received a $50,000 grant towards its goal. Lynchburg president Kenneth R. Garren, Ph.D, adds, “Lynchburg College was very pleased to work with Point7West on our Student Center video. Besides demonstrating good design and planning, Point7West delivered on its promise to produce an outstanding two-minute video that captures the hearts and minds of our viewers as it educates them about this important project. Over 300 judges viewed and evaluated hundreds of entries, evaluating such criteria as storytelling, production value, artistry, the extent to which the film meets its stated goals and communicates with its intended audience, and overall excellence.
The prestigious CINE Golden Eagle award recognizes excellence in professional, independent, and student works, and are recognized internationally as symbols of the highest production standards in film and television production.
